Why should you take part in London Cocktail Week? Here are ten things that are not to be missed.
1. A cherry-picked list of Cocktail Tour bars
This year, the London Cocktail Week team personally visited every bar listed on our Cocktail Tours to make sure they were serving fantastic drinks and would provide great service for visitors. It was a tough job but someone had to do it. Hic.
2. A centrally located hub
Our new hub in Seven Dials means the heart of the festival is more central than ever and provides easy, stroll-able access for all our major events. Look out for street sampling, pop-ups, master classes and our fancy overhead banners. Come and collect your wristband from our home for the week – London Cocktail Week Ketel One Hub, 15 Shorts Gardens. Not registered? Why the hell not?
3. Free transport and entertainment on our Lovoka Routemaster Bus Tours
Daily on the hour departures for easy use – the bus leaves Centre Point at 7pm and goes west to Notting Hill. It comes back again at 8pm, leaves Centre Point again at 9pm heading east to Shoreditch and back for the final run of the night at 10pm. Easy. As well as going to town, literally, they’ll also be going to town on the décor, brightening your journey with burlesque dancers, Lovoka samples and music.
4. FREE daily training sessions for anyone in the bar trade
Bacardi Brown-Forman Brands Training Team have pulled out all the stops and created a daily timetable of seminars, discussions and debates – all gratis – for all those working in the on-trade. Register at the venue each day for the events that take your fancy – 9 Mercer Street.
5. World Record Attempt from Salvatore Calabrese
With the help of his Playboy bunnies, The Maestro will be attempting create the World’s Most Expensive Cocktail, priced at £5,500 per glass and smashing the previous record held by The Skyview Bar, Dubai for a mere £3,766.52 per glass. And we’ve got tickets up for grabs.
6. FREE tastecard for all wristband wearers to ensure you factor in some supper
Register online for a free two-month tastecard valid in more than 1,000 restaurants in London. Most venues offer a 50% discount for card holders so it’s definitely worth the effort. Promoting responsible drinking every step of the way.
7. A massive list of additional offers and free tastings when wearing your wristband
Restaurant deals, off-licence discounts, free memberships at secret gin clubs… We’ve added so many benefits for wearing your London Cocktail Week wristband throughout the week. Click on the HERE ALL WEEK tab on the timetable for a full list of these offers.
8. No less than Three National Finals of Bartending Competitions
Watch the young gund battle it out with no less than three cocktail competition finals throughout the week. And anyone can go and support them. Choose from the Monin UK Cocktail Cup (Wed at Paramount), Angostura Cocktail Challenge (Thur at The Ivy) and Beefeater 24 Perfect Host Competition (Fri at Circus).
9. Fancy venues at affordable prices
BBC news informed us this morning that while you might pay £75 for a plate of sausage and mash at L’Atelier De Joel Robuchon on West Street, Covent Garden, we know that you can also enjoy a Bacardi Gold cocktail for just £4 at the venue throughout London Cocktail Week! Sharing’s caring!
10. Easy to read maps to find all those brilliant bars
After requesting feedback from last year – it seems that other than rename the festival ‘London Cocktail Month’ the only thing you missed were our maps. Cue a phone call to the lovely David Bray and they’re back. Fully downloadable from the website for future use or printed in our beautiful festival guide book – available when you collect your wristband.
Have a great Cocktail Week and enjoy your drinks responsibly!
